Last week, the Dutch investment company Navus Ventures invested in the development of modern agriculture. They have bought into the Swedish agtech company Ekobot and will be involved in bringing the company’s self-driving weeding robot to the market on a large scale. Navus Ventures is owned by the Dutch Lely family. The Lely family is the founders of Lely industries, the world’s leading supplier of robots and systems for data management in the milk industry – something that makes them a suitable owner to say the least in the Swedish Agtech company Ekobot
Ekobot’s work to get the autonomous weeding robot out to more farmers is now in full swing – a commercialization that Navus Ventures intends to contribute to.
Navus announces in an interview that the investment means a long-term strategic commitment and that they will contribute with their expertise regarding the automation of agriculture.
– We will contribute to Ekobot’s commercialization by sharing our knowledge of bringing agricultural robots to market. We can contribute with a large network, expertise in the development of new technology and knowledge of how to build a service organization”, says Eduard Meijer, CEO of Navus Ventures and continues:
– Ekobot is a start-up and additional capital will be needed in the future. Our involvement in the company means that we are present and contribute to the financing in the future.
