Ekobot Ab (publ) AB files a new patent application for its tool system

Ekobot AB (publ) announces that it has submitted a patent application to the European Patent and Registration Office regarding a tool carrier unit for autonomous agricultural vehicles. The patent application relates to an autonomous robot system for AI-based optical detection of weeds, which in general terms means a new and improved method for detecting and controlling weeds with a mechanical tool system.

Ekobot’s robotic system for autonomous weed control consists of several components, a UGV unit (Unmanned groud vehicle), a tool carrier unit and tool modules for various agricultural purposes. Together with Ekobot’s AI system, this is a complete solution that is of great importance for the sustainable food production of the future. The tool carrier unit is central to the continued technological development and forms the core of the company’s operations.

  • Ekobot has a clear strategy to continuously strengthen its IP portfolio around its tool system. During the autumn and winter, our highly competent R&D Team has therefore continued to work on developing a reliable tool system that can be adapted and applied in several areas in the agricultural sector. This work has now once again bear fruit in the IP field in the form of a new patent application. I am pleased that we have registered the protection at a high level, which gives us a strengthened position in the market, and it is well in line with creating reliable solutions and services for our customers. – says the company’s CEO, Erik Jonuks

Usually in patent approval processes, an application is submitted to the European Patent and Registration Office. Following approval, subsequent applications are filed in other countries outside the European Patent Cooperation. This is also expected to be the case for this new patent, as intellectual property rights are part of the company’s long-term strategy.
